Personal
Picked up the nickname “Davis” after his favorite golfer – Davis Love III, but later was tattooed with the nickname “West Coast Maynard” for his great play out West, but relatively poor showing back East. He recently shed that title and was donned with a new nickname, “The Sniper” after his pinpoint irons landed him his first ROMP victory in August of 2001 in Rhode Island. His handicap first dropped into single digits in December 1999 and has remained there ever since with a low of 5.4 in June 2000. It currently resides near that mark, which hurt him a bit for ROMP 2002. The highlight of his golfing career was victory in September 2001 in Sunnyvale Club Championship. He qualified for the match play finals on the 2nd playoff hole, then won his quarter-final and semi-final matches in extra holes as well before winning in the final 4 and 2. When asked whether 2001′s victory was indeed more special than his Club Championship victory, he replied, “What do you think?” Winning back the ROMP 2003 Tournament is his biggest challenge yet.
